The RaceChrono Alternative That Exports to MoTeC i2
RaceChrono Pro is a mature, much-loved app. But it stops short of MoTeC i2 export, live coaching and a real motorcycle focus, exactly where VlastLap is built to go.
RaceChrono Pro is genuinely good, credit where it's due
RaceChrono Pro has earned its reputation. A one-time 19.99 € purchase, a huge track database (2,600+ circuits), broad external-receiver support and years of polish. On the phone it logs at 1-10 Hz, and up to 25 Hz with an external GNSS receiver. If you want a proven, pay-once app, it's a solid choice and we won't pretend otherwise.
Where it leaves room is at the pro analysis and coaching end, and for riders. That's the gap VlastLap fills.
The big one: MoTeC i2 export
If you analyse in MoTeC i2, this is the deciding line. RaceChrono does not export to MoTeC i2. VlastLap does.
- MoTeC i2 for serious overlay and channel analysis.
- VBO for Circuit Tools.
- KML and GPX for everything else.
So you keep your professional toolchain instead of bending it to fit the app.
RaceChrono vs VlastLap at a glance
| What matters | RaceChrono Pro | VlastLap |
|---|---|---|
| Phone update rate / reactivity | 1-10 Hz (25 Hz w/ external receiver) | 100 Hz sensor fusion (IMU + GPS) |
| Lap timing & live delta | Excellent | Excellent |
| MoTeC i2 export | No | Yes |
| Other exports | VBO / GPX / others | MoTeC i2 / VBO / KML / GPX |
| Live remote coaching (WiFi/Cloud) | No | Yes |
| Motorcycle lean + multi-vehicle focus | No | Yes (moto/car/kart, lean angle) |
| Cloud Sync / backup / web | No | Yes (Pro) |
| Track database | 2,600+ | ~8,500 |
| Pricing | One-off 19.99 € | Free tier + Pro 19.99 €/year |
On accuracy: both nail the thing that makes you faster, lap times and the lap-to-lap delta. Centimetre-level absolute map position is a niche (drag trap-speed, fine topo mapping) better served by a dedicated GNSS, which is on our hardware roadmap.
One-time vs subscription, the honest version
RaceChrono is pay once. VlastLap Pro is a subscription: 19.99 €/year (about 1.67 €/month). The reason is simple, and we'd rather just say it: Pro includes Cloud Sync, backup and web access, services that cost us money every month to keep your sessions safe and reachable. A one-off price can't fund ongoing storage and sync.
And there's a free tier, so you can run real sessions before you ever pay. At ~1.67 €/month, it's roughly the price of one coffee for the whole season, with your data backed up.
Built for riders, not just retrofitted
VlastLap treats motorcycle as first-class: real lean-angle on a tilting horizon, plus car and kart in the same app. Add 100 Hz reactivity (instant brake points and Gs), ZUPT (true 0 km/h at lights and in tunnels), auto start/finish with no beacons, up to 10 sectors, live delta, lap prediction, a 0-100 consistency score and an offline rally co-pilot.
Launches 1 September 2026. Right now it's a 250-spot waitlist. Reserve your place and bring your MoTeC i2 workflow with you.
