VlastLap Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about VlastLap — accuracy, hardware, pricing, exports and the launch waitlist.

Is VlastLap accurate without an external GPS?

Yes — confidently so for what matters in timing and coaching. VlastLap runs 100 Hz sensor fusion (IMU at 100 Hz blended with GPS) so lap times, live delta and Gs are precise and reactive. The accuracy that improves your driving is the repeatable delta: you compare yourself against yourself, so any fixed offset simply cancels out. Add ZUPT (a true 0 at the lights or in a tunnel) and beacon-free finish-line crossing, and you get reliable, repeatable results from the phone in your pocket. Centimetre-level absolute map position is a separate, niche use case for dedicated hardware.

Do I need any extra hardware?

No. VlastLap works with the phone you already own — the 100 Hz fusion runs entirely on-device. An OBD-II adapter is optional if you want engine data on a car, and a smartwatch is optional for wrist delta and haptics, but neither is required to log laps, deltas and Gs.

How do mounting and calibration work?

It's effortless. Use free mounting — clip the phone anywhere in the car, on the bike or in the kart — and VlastLap auto-calibrates in about 30 seconds as you set off. There's no fixed orientation to dial in; the app learns it for you.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

The Free tier lets you log and review sessions. Pro unlocks the full toolkit plus Cloud Sync, backup and web access for your data anywhere.

Why is Pro an annual subscription?

Pro is 19.99 €/year — about 1.67 €/month. Billing annually keeps it cheap and predictable, and it covers the ongoing Cloud Sync, backup and web infrastructure that keeps your sessions safe and accessible.

What is Cloud Live?

Cloud Live streams your telemetry in real time to the cloud so a coach, teammate or you on another screen can watch live. It's sold as hour packs from 4.99 €, so you only pay for the live sessions you actually use.

Does VlastLap read OBD-II data?

Yes. Pair a standard OBD-II adapter and VlastLap reads 16 PIDs — including RPM, throttle, speed and coolant — overlaying engine data directly onto your laps, deltas and G traces.

What export formats are supported?

VlastLap exports to MoTeC i2, VBO (Circuit Tools), KML and GPX, so your sessions open straight in the professional analysis tools you already use.

Does it work for motorcycle, car and kart?

Yes — it's multi-vehicle and adapts to each one. The moto profile foregrounds lean angle and a tilted horizon; the car profile leans on braking analysis and the G-G diagram; the kart profile centres on lap timing, sectors and the consistency score.

Is there smartwatch support?

Yes. On Apple Watch and Wear OS you get live delta, heart rate and haptic cues on your wrist, so you can keep your eyes up and your hands on the wheel or bars.

What's on the roadmap?

In development: VlastLap Anchor (a fixed OBD/ECU module), VlastLap Halo (1000 Hz dedicated hardware) and CarPlay / Android Auto. Anchor and Halo are also where centimetre-level absolute positioning lives, for those who need it. These are not available yet — they're coming after launch.

When does VlastLap launch and how do I join?
